For many years LTi Metaltech Ltd (LTi) has been successfully manufacturing the cryogenic pressure vessels critical to encapsulating the liquid helium used in its long-term client Siemens’ MRI scanners. This case study explores the development of a new joint design, that needed to be compliant to the code requirements of AD2000 – Merkblatt. It also looks the innovative Design for Manufacture (DFM) project that LTi delivered enabled them to automate the production of a critical sealing welded joint.
